Initial consultation
Where appropriate, we offer an initial consultation in order to discuss your circumstances and offer basic advice to allow you to take a decision as regards whether we are able to assist you. This consultation usually lasts in the region of 40-60 minutes and we follow up the consultation with a letter of advice. Our fee for this service is £190 (inclusive of VAT at 20%, where VAT is chargeable).
Fixed Fee Packages
Following the consultation, wherever possible, we offer clients a tailored fixed fee for specific works. Fixed fees will be charged on the basis of time spent on the work together with an element of responsibility which can vary depending on several factors including the complexity, urgency, or sums of money involved in the matter.
If we are unable to offer a fixed fee then we will advise of the applicable hourly rate, dependent on the level of seniority of the solicitor. Our hourly rates typically range between £160 to £250. All hourly rates are exclusive of VAT and outlays.
What is covered by the fixed fee:
- Bespoke instructions in respect of the application process.
- Preparation and submission of the application form.
- Detailed legal representations setting out how you meet the requirements of the Immigration Rules.
- Detailed index of documentation.
- Full Drummond Miller package scanned and submitted to the Home Office.
- All correspondence and communication between us up until the point that you receive a decision from the Home Office.
What is not covered by the fixed fee:
- Onward challenge/appeal – if the application is refused for any reason. We can provide further advice on our fees at a later stage, if necessary.
- Outlays – for example Home Office application fees, Tribunal fees, expert fees, counsel’s fees, and fees for interpreting/translation.
Typical fixed fee ranges
We set out below examples of typical fixed fee ranges for matters that we deal with regularly. The following examples are typical prices only and our fee will vary upon the complexity (for example if you have an adverse immigration history, a criminal conviction or the application raises novel or complex points of law) and urgency of the matter. We will provide a tailored quote following an initial consultation. Some applications we assist with are particularly complex and we are not able to provide a typical fee range without having consulted to ascertain the likely level of work, for example asylum applications and human rights applications outside of the Immigration Rules.
