Miranda commonly deals with cases involving delay in diagnosis of cancer, surgical error/complications cases and fatal cases. She regularly receives referrals from other solicitors, counsel and former clients for her expertise. Over time, she has increasingly dealt with catastrophic injury cases and cancer cases, dealing sensitively and compassionately with clients facing very different futures to those they had envisaged.
Miranda represented the pursuer in the first successful damages claim for rape in Scotland in the case of DC v DG & DR [2017] CSOH 5; [2017] CSIH 72.
In addition, a number of Miranda’s cases have been decided in the UK Supreme Court (previously the House of Lords) and have clarified or restated the law relating to personal injury and clinical negligence matters for legal practitioners across the UK, most recently in McCulloch v Forth Valley Health Board [2023] UKSC 26.
