Shabana Mahmood has been announced as the new Home Secretary following Cabinet reshuffle. Former Home Secretary, Yvette Cooper, has now been moved to Foreign Secretary.
She has said she will continue to crack down on illegal migration and has suggested that she could withdraw visas from countries that do not ‘play ball’ when it comes to migrant returns. She also wants to review how the UK interpret the European Convention on Human Rights in Immigration and Asylum cases.
