As outlined in our previous blog, UK Visas and Immigration (‘UKVI’) has been incrementally rolling out a digital system for proving immigration status, in the form of eVisas, since 2024. UKVI has stated that by the end of 2026, all successful visa applicants from outside the UK will only be issued with eVisas, with entry clearance vignettes, also known as visa stickers, no longer being issued.
The most recent update from UKVI, published on 28 January 2026, relates to the issuance of eVisas for visit visas. For applications submitted on or after 25 February 2026, successful applicants may not be issued with an entry clearance vignette and may instead need to access their eVisa through their UKVI account to evidence their permission to travel to the UK. The update from UKVI confirms that successful applicants will be told whether a vignette will be issued, and if not, how to access their eVisa.
This update follows on from the previous update from UKVI which confirmed that from 12 January 2026, most successful applicants for a visit visa will be issued an eVisa alongside an entry clearance vignette. The most recent update confirms the move away from vignettes.
