
The Home Office have recently announced that biometric residence permits (BRPs) and EUSS biometric residence card (BRCs) that expired on or after 31 December 2024 will continue to be accepted as valid evidence of permission to travel to the UK until 1 June 2025.
Unless this period is extended again, from 2 June 2025, expired BRPs and BRCs will no longer be accepted as proof of immigration status when travelling in and out of the UK.
Carriers will ask for proof of your immigration status before travelling to the UK. If you haven’t already set up an eVisa, then you can continue to enter the UK using your expired BRP or BRC until 1 June 2025, provided you still have valid immigration status in the UK. However, there is a risk that you could encounter difficulties at the border and so you should attempt to set up your eVisa as soon as possible.
