David graduated with a Bsc in Biology at Stirling University in 1982. He also graduated with an LLB at Glasgow University in 1994 and undertook the Diploma in Legal Practice the following year at Edinburgh University.

David joined Drummond Miller as a newly qualified Solicitor in 1997 and was promoted to Partner in 2003.

David heads up Drummond Miller's expanding Immigration department that specialises not only in Immigration but also Asylum, Nationality and Human Rights Law. David also manages his own Court of Session Practice.

In June 2009 David was appointed to the Law Society of Scotland's Accreditation Panel for the specialism in Immigration Law.

In September 2009 at the Law Awards of Scotland 2009 David was winner in the category 'Solicitor of the Year - Advocates Choice'.
